When looking for a Super Bowl winner one might assume that stats that show a team having the most this or the best at that is a good thing. But one stat that is the lowest also points to Super Bowl winners.
The New England Patriots scored the fewest points in their three postseason games than any team in history that reached the Super Bowl. Is that a bad thing?
Apparently not.
The three teams that scored the fewest points in winning three postseason games all went on to win their Super Bowls. Those teams were the 2023 Kansas City Chiefs, 2007 New York Giants and 2000 Baltimore Ravens. In their three postseason games leading up their Super Bowl victories they scored 70, 68 and 61 points respectively.
This year, the Patriots scored an all-time low 54 points for a team that swept three playoff games.
Does that mean New England is going to beat the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium?
