Perfect and Imperfect

The National Football League will stage 14 games today with weather not a major factor at any of the outdoor venues. The best chances for some rain exists in Chicago, where the Bears will host the Dallas Cowboys at Soldier Field; Jacksonville, where the Jaguars will entertain the Houston Texans; and in Seattle, for the Seahawks contest against the New Orleans Saints.

With two weeks and one game in the books, the NFL currently has ten teams undefeated and nine squads still looking for their first win. Any surprises in that stat?

Well, the defending AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs are among the winless teams. They meet another team looking for an initial 2025 triumph when they visit the New York Giants tonight at MetLife Stadium. Is it a surprise the Chiefs are still looking for their first win?

Well, they have played two of the better teams in the league, opening in Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers and losing at home last Sunday in a Super Bowl rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, if you want a surprise, have the Giants pull out of the winless column tonight and drop the Chiefs to a third straight loss.

Not likely.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is that neither the Baltimore Colts nor the Detroit Lions are among the two-and-oh teams. Once again, for good reason. The Ravens opened their season in Buffalo and built up a double-digit fourth quarter lead before Josh Allen and company ran them down to earn a one-point home victory, 41-40.

The Lions loss also came in their opening game, suffered against their most viable competition in the NFC North Division, the Green Bay Packers. The Lions took revenge out on the overmatched Bears last week while pinning former Detroit offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson, with a lopsided 52-21 trouncing. The Ravens also vented against an overmatched opponent, downing the Cleveland Browns, 41-17.

Now these two NFL powerhouses, the Ravens and Lions, close out Week Three action tomorrow night in Baltimore. One of these two squads that could go all the way are in all likelihood, barring a rare tie, going to move into fourth week action with two losses against a single win.

Neither seems like a candidate for a losing record this early in the season, and even more likely the loser Monday night will come back with a victory the following week.

In Philadelphia today, the undefeated defending champs meet another 2-0 unit when they host the Los Angeles Rams. The Eagles have downed the Cowboys and Chiefs in close games; the Rams have had easier times while beating the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans. Whomever wins this battle of two outstanding teams will have an early leg up on representing the NFC in Super Bowl LX.

The public has checked in with their favorite plays of the day beginning with the undefeated Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6½) to take down the New York Jets. The next two most popular public plays are the Los Angeles Chargers (-3) over the Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers (-7½) over the Browns in Cleveland.

The Qoxhi Week Three selections are now posted on this site, and if a Bullet Play develops in the final hour that game will be added to the list of recommendations by 9:45 a.m. Pacific Time.
