NFC West War
by Dennis Ranahan

Now in the second week of November, the conditions at some NFL game sites today are beginning to show a turn in the weather. It is downright cold in Chicago, where the Bears host the New York Giants. Game time temperatures at Soldier Field are pegged at 37 degrees. Rain is expected in Chicago and is in the forecast in New Jersey, where the Jets host the Cleveland Browns, Seattle, where the Seahawks host the Arizona Cardinals, and in Washington for the contest between the Detroit Lions and Commanders.

The NFL stage their sixth of seven International Games this morning with the Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons squaring off at Olympic Stadium in Berlin.

For the first time this season the Qoxhi Top Pick of the Week will not be played on Sunday. The highest rated game for us will be tomorrow night when the Green Bay Packers host the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles.

The San Francisco 49ers play an intriguing game today against the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams come into this game tied for the NFC West Division lead with the Seattle Seahawks. Both teams own 6 and 2 season marks.

The 49ers opened this season with wins over all three of their NFC West opponents, but they currently find themselves one-half game back of the Rams and Seahawks. The 49ers are 6 and 3 this season.

The Rams were upset by the 49ers in Los Angeles five weeks ago. The visitors pulled off a narrow overtime win, 26-23. The 49ers success this season has been a tribute to their coaching staff and the “next man up” mantra. In the 49ers case, the next man up has gotten the job done more often than they have failed despite the loss of starting quarterback Brock Purdy and their two best defensive players, Nick Bosa and Fred Warner.
