Morning, Noon & Night
by Dennis Ranahan

The fifth week of regular season National Football League action is a lot like the first four weeks in regards to the weather. There are a few sites today that have a chance of rain, those include Pittsburgh, where the Steelers host the Baltimore Ravens; Miami, where the Dolphins entertain the New York Giants; and San Francisco for the 49ers contest tonight against the Dallas Cowboys.

Just as the first four weeks, none of the forecasts expect conditions to adversely affect the play on the field.

If you didn’t rise with the roosters this morning, at least on the West Coast, you would have missed the first game of the day. The Buffalo Bills are in England this morning to battle the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars are playing their second straight game across the pond and are currently leading the Bills, 11-7, at halftime.

On the other end of the starting times today is the contest tonight when the San Francisco 49ers host the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas has lost a single game this season, upset by the Arizona Cardinals in third week action. In their other three games, the Cowboys have outscored their opponents by a combined 108-13.

Yet, Dallas is an underdog today for their contest at Levi’s Stadium against the undefeated 49ers. San Francisco Quarterback Brock Purdy has not lost a regular season start in his brief career. The 49ers are also 8-1 versus the point spread in his nine regular season stats and 2-1 in his three postseason games. The only contest he has lost straight-up that he started was last year’s NFC Championship Game defeat to the Eagles, a game in which Purdy was injured early in the contest.

We will offer more commentary on this game in this afternoon’s Headline Play which will post on this site at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

The past two National Football Conference champions square off today at SoFi Stadium when the Los Angeles Rams host the Philadelphia Eagles. The Rams won Super Bowl LVI over the Cincinnati Bengals and the Eagles came up short last season in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Eagles bring a perfect 4-0 mark into this west coast battle, and the Rams are still in recovery mode from last year’s disastrous season. The Rams 5-12 mark last year was the worst won/loss record for a defending Super Bowl champion in league history.

The public has checked in with their three favorite plays of the day, beginning with the Bills early contest against the Jaguars where they have Buffalo (-5½) points. The second most bet game by the public is the Miami Dolphins (-12½) over the New York Giants and the third game on the public’s wagers today is the 49ers (-3½) over the Dallas Cowboys.

As for the Qoxhi Picks Week Five selections, those money rated games are now posted and if a Bullet Play develops in the final hour leading up to the 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time kickoffs, that game will be added to the list of recommendations by 9:45 a.m.
