State Rivals
by Dennis Ranahan

This is another one of those annoying weeks when the National Football League decides to start a game at 6:30 a.m. Las Vegas time. Books need to open early to accommodate this ridiculous starting time which starts the day on a sour note.

This morning it is the Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos meeting across the pond in a game that is already at least at halftime when this feature posts at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

As for the six outdoor venues where games will be played in the United States today, the weather is once again mild except for the chance of rain in Seattle where the Seahawks host the New York Giants.

The Philadelphia Eagles look to extend the only unbeaten streak today when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers. The visitors have gotten off to a rocky start this year as they are making their first attempt in nearly two decades to win without Ben Roethlisberger running their offense. Mitchell Trubisky was brought in for a chance of redemption from his unsteady performances in Chicago, and that didn’t go well.

Head Coach Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season during his 16 years at the helm of the Steelers, but this team threatens to end that streak. Winners of only two of their first seven games, they visit their state rivals at a time when Philadelphia prospects are at high level and the Steelers are looking to avoid a blowout loss.

That is a great motivation for the underdog, and the double-digit point spread adds a lot of room to win the wager even if the Eagles extend their unbeaten run.

The public has checked in with their three favorite plays of the week, and they are: Philadelphia Eagles (-10½) over Pittsburgh Steelers; Tennessee Titans (-1) over Houston Texans; Dallas Cowboys (-10) over Chicago Bears.

Qoxhi has four rated games now posted on this site, and if a Bullet Play develops in the final hour leading up to the 10:00 a.m. kickoffs, that game will be added to the list of recommendations by 9:45 a.m.
