Seventh Week National Football League action and we have our first severe weather condition and it is surprisingly in the San Francisco Bay Area. The 49ers stadium is located in Santa Clara, a 50 minutes drive south from San Francisco, and that entire route is going to be pelted by a rain and wind combination that is putting weather reports at the top of local news.

In the rain and wind the 49ers are going to host the Indianapolis Colts at Levi’s Stadium. The Sunday night game is one of five Qoxhi Picks now posted on this site.

The New England Patriots and New York Jets are the first two teams to meet twice this season. New England downed the Jets five weeks ago in New Jersey, 25-6. The Patriots will be looking for a similar result today when they host the Jets.

Bill Belichick and his rookie quarterback, Mac Jones, have played above their talent level in David versus Goliath type matchups. Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys, the young Patriots took the contests to the final minute. But, against the weaker teams, squads one might think the Patriots could dominate, they have struggled. While they did beat one weak opponent, the same Jets team they play today, in other contests they lost the point spread to the Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints and Houston Texans.

Following their emotional overtime contest against the 5-1 straight-up and undefeated against the point spread Cowboys, New England will have trouble hitting a sprocket to play their best against a struggling Jets team they tattooed in their first meeting.

The public has had two spectacular weeks against the books and big favorites continue to dominate overmatched teams. On the season, double-digit favorites are 8-0 straight-up and 6-2 versus the point spread. There are two huge lines in play today, the Arizona Cardinals are 17½ point favorites over the Texans and the Los Angeles Rams are 16 point favorites over the Detroit Lions. The only game this season to be near those lopsided lines was the Buffalo Bills giving 18½ points three weeks ago against the Houston Texans. The favored Bills won that game, 40-0.

One other double-digit favorite this week is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are giving 11½ points in their contest against the Chicago Bears. In a typical season, double digit favorites will win more than 80% of the games, but cover the point spread in the mid 40% range.

As for the public this week, their three favorite plays are Green Bay Packers (-8) over the Washington Football Team; Carolina Panthers (-3) over the New York Giants; Baltimore Ravens (-6½) over the Cincinnati Bengals.

As for the Qoxhi selections, they are now posted on this site and if a Bullet Play develops in the final hour leading up to the day’s first kickoff, that game will be added to the list of recommendations by 9:45 a.m. Pacific Time.
