Morning Call
by Dennis Ranahan

Good morning Germany!

Actually, it is the afternoon in Germany when the National Football League stages their next International game. This morning’s contest, at least by Pacific Time residents standards, will kick off before dawn, 6:30 a.m., while at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt the kickoff locally will be at 2:30 p.m. The game will pit the Indianapolis Colts against the New England Patriots.

Enough said about a game that I will not post on the Qoxhi Picks site because of its ridiculous starting time.

As for games in the United States that begin after the rooster crows, the weather is for another week mild at most of the outdoor venues. There is a chance of rain in Seattle, where the Seahawks host the Washington Commanders, but no weather conditions appear severe enough to affect play on the field.

In Florida, a couple teams that had their byes last week square off at TIAA Bank Stadium, when the Jacksonville Jaguars host the San Francisco 49ers. These are two of the best teams in the league, both won at least one playoff game last season and both teams appear on a trajectory that will have them in the postseason again this season.

While both teams are off their byes, they went into their open dates on dramatically different paths. The Jaguars won their final five games before their open date and sit atop the NFC South Division with six wins against two losses. That has them two games ahead of their nearest competitor, the Houston Texans.

The 49ers opened the season with five straight wins, scoring at least 30 points in each victory. Then, mistakes from both the kicking game and quarterback position contributed greatly to Kyle Shanahan’s squad suffering three straight losses. The 49ers are currently tied with the Seattle Seahawks for the top spot in the NFC West Division.

What we have here are two quality teams, but the 49ers need this game more and while the Jaguars have a cushion in their division race, San Francisco has already exhausted their early advantage and need a win here to probably maintain their share of the NFC West lead.

When quality teams meet, the game is most often decided by the squad that needs it more. The 49ers are one of Qoxhi’s money rated plays today.

Arizona Cardinals Quarterback Kyler Murray returns to action today for the first time this season. The one-time first overall pick in the NFL draft injured his ACL last December. The books have not responded to his return with any dramatic shift in the point spread. The Cardinals are a slight home underdog today for their meeting with the Atlanta Falcons.

The public has checked in with their three favorite plays of the day. The most bet team by the wagering public in Week 10 is the Cincinnati Bengals (-6) over the Houston Texans. The next two most wagered games are the Baltimore Ravens (-6½) over the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers (-3½) over the Green Bay Packers.

All the Week Ten selections for Qoxhi are now posted on this site, and if a Bullet Play develops in the final hour leading up to the 10:00 a.m. kickoffs, that game will be added to the list of recommendations by 9:45 a.m. Pacific Time.
