NFL STRATEGIES

Scary Numbers
by Dennis Ranahan

In recent months, I took the time to read about the grifts all around us. Seems that the big money makers have something in common, they hit the scare button to entice contributions. Studies long ago confirmed people are called to donate money to organizations because they are combating a villain. The villain is much more successful at getting contributions than a story about how good it can be with your help.

Virtuous intentions are often publicized to gain revenue for good causes. The public is often fleeced by calls of impending doom, life and death situations that include offering donors a seat in heaven next to God for a contribution that offers them Gold Circle Donor acknowledgement.

Most of the money, in some cases, all the money goes to the people putting together the campaign to generate dollars by scaring the living shit out of trusting souls. A high percentage of the money generated by shady promotional campaigns is collected from senior citizens. They think they are saving the elephants from extinction or some other noble cause, when in fact their donation, and billions of dollars from other well-intentioned individuals, was used to make a payment on a yacht for the person raking in millions from the successful money drive.

Knowing that fear is an effective generator to gain donations, I realized I have been selling Qoxhi Picks the wrong way for more than four decades. I have advertised the benefits of following a bright money management strategy that in a typical season will generate profits of 30 to 60 percent over the 18 week National Football League regular season.

Since we introduced the online Account Manager in 2001, which allows clients to know exact wager amounts to stay within a proven financial structure, we have had 20 winning seasons. Three years we suffered losses on the Basic Strategy, but in 43 years of Qoxhi Picks we have never suffered a losing season on our weekly Top Pick. Selections that routinely win 12, 13 or 14 weeks and have a winning percentage a shade over 68% since 1981.

But, now I can see that telling that side of the story is not the best way to entice a person to make a payment. What is necessary is to scare people into thinking that if they don’t buy Qoxhi Picks this season terrible things are going to happen to them.

How many people that wager on sports all year make money? Show a profit after a calendar year on their sports wagering? When I posed that question to an audience at a recent seminar, the audience had a number of claims. Few thought more than 50% won, and most in the room seemed to land on the average gambler ending a season ahead around 20% of the time.

I, when first posed the question, thought the number of gamblers ending a season ahead would be 3%. Turns out I was off by a factor of ten.

No, 30% of gamblers don’t win, the number according to this study pitted the winning percentage at .03. That is like one in three hundred.

We have had winning campaigns in 86% of the most recent 43 NFL seasons.

Even if that number doesn’t entice you, doesn’t .03% get your attention?

I only mean to scare you to have you land on a winning NFL 2024 season.
